Faster R-CNN was jointly proposed by researchers from the University of Science and Technology of China and other institutions in June 2015, and the relevant research results were published in the paper "Faster R-CNN: Towards Real-Time Object Detection with Region Proposal Networks".

Faster R-CNN is an object detection system consisting of two modules. The first module is a deep fully convolutional network for proposing regions, and the second module is a Fast R-CNN detector that uses the proposed regions. The entire system is a single, unified network for object detection.
